If you constantly go back and forth between your email and the Fortix system as part of your daily work, you should consider setting your email up inside the system. This will allow you to send emails from the system using your email address.
To get your email setup configured, you (or your system admin) will need to click on the Email Setup sub menu (usually located under Communication):
Next, Add New takes you to a form which will ask for these details:
|Name||Put in your name or a generic name (example: The Support Team, Sales Department, Service and Warranty)|
|A valid email address must be placed in this field|
|Profile||Refer to your system administrator if required|
|Private||Selecting Yes will allow only the Owner to send emails with this address from the system, whilst No will make it publicly available. Refer to your system administrator if required|
|Owner||If this email address is Private, select the user who “owns” it|
Following these questions, you will have a choice of filling out either the SMTP Setup or the IMAP Setup.
An SMTP server is a machine that takes care of the whole email delivery process: that’s why to send your messages to an email client or software you need first of all to configure the correct SMTP settings – in particular, the right SMTP address you’re using. (For instance, Gmail’s is smtp.gmail.com).
Encryption Method: You can connect via unencrypted or TLS on ports 25, 2525, and 587. You can connect via SSL on port 465.
Enter the Username and Password of your email account on the host server.
Depending on your business policies, or if you are not sure which method should be used, please refer to your system administrator or your IT department. The images below show samples of each of the setup:
When you have all the details in, Update the form and Test the connection:
Either a Successful or Failed result will display on your screen:
Now check the Send Email function and see if the email address you have just saved can now be used:
